Wuthering Heights (with Active Table of Contents)

Kindle Description:Now updated with an Active Table of Contents.

Wuthering Heights is a gothic novel, and the only novel by Emily Brontë. It was first published in 1847 under the pseudonym Ellis Bell, and a posthumous second edition was edited by her sister Charlotte.

The name of the novel comes from the Yorkshire manor on the moors on which the story centres (as an adjective; wuthering is a Yorkshire word referring to turbulent weather). The narrative tells the tale of the all-encompassing and passionate, yet thwarted, love between Heathcliff and Catherine Earnshaw, and how this unresolved passion eventually destroys them and many around them…

True Grit

Charles Portis has long been acclaimed as one of America's foremost comic writers. True Grit is his most famous novel--first published in 1968, and the basis for the movie of the same name starring John Wayne and now the film by the Coen brothers starring Jeff Bridges and Matt Damon.

It tells the story of Mattie Ross, who is just fourteen years of age when a coward going by the name of Tom Chaney shoots her father down in Fort Smith, Arkansas, and robs him of his life, his horse, and $150 in cash money. Mattie leaves home to avenge her father's blood. With the one-eyed Rooster Cogburn, the meanest available U.S…

The N-word of the Narcissus

WordBridge Publishing has performed a public service in putting Joseph Conrad's neglected classic into a form accessible to modern readers. This new version addresses the reason for its neglect: the profusion of the so-called n-word throughout its pages. Hence, the introduction of "n-word" throughout the text, to remove this offence to modern sensibilities. The N-word of the Narcissus tells the tale of a fateful voyage of a British sailing ship, and on that voyage the ability of a lone black man to take the crew hostage. The ability of this man to manipulate an entire ship's crew can no longer be seen as a mere exercise in storytelling…

¿Por Qué Me Tuvo Que Pasar A Mí? (Spanish Edition)

Gwen & Gwenette (Unabridged) (Gwen and Gwenette)

This is the original version of Gwen and Gwenette, the book that I started writing from my Freshman year at Loyola College as it was called in my days. I remember quite clearly now how most of my colleagues began to refer to the idea as an uncommon proposal, nothing they had ever heard of before. And although I didn't finish the book until years later, I still recall those moments when I would scribble notes on any piece of paper that came in handy.

Today, after all these years, I would really like to take this book, the unabridged version, back to my old school where the story all started…

A woman of 79 years of age has just called up to praise me for the wonderful piece of work, according to her, that I did by splicing the sex scenes into the original story of Gwen and Gwenette. She's just read both of them and has come forward to voice her happiness on the abridged version. She's moved the earth under my feet and I'm thankful.

The background of this book, which is between Erie, Pennsylvania and Jamaica, makes the uncommon proposal between Gwen and Gwenette a lot more interesting to read about. It's that kind of pageturner that you can't put down until you get to the very last page. See for yourself.

Why Did it Have to Happen to me?

It’s due time that men get it in their heads that they just cannot go around raping women to simply satisfy their sexual needs. Women must be respected . . . even if they go around half-naked, or naked for that matter. No man has the right to touch them in any way whatsoever.

Women, after having been ruthlessly subjugated for so many years, have proven themselves to be much more than a sex symbol and if men continue abusing them sexually, then there must―has to―be a law to severely punish them for commit- ting their atrocities…

The story behind this book is sad, but I'm using it to show the world that child molestation happens every day and in every walk of life. Most of the victims suffer dire consequences and many cases their perpetrators are never brought to justice. Something must be done to help curb this atrocious act.

Gwen & Gwenette (Abridged) (Gwen and Gwenette)

The abridged version of Gwen and Gwenette is practically the same as the unabridged one except that it was created with a number of specific sexual scenes for a more erotic taste. Hilton has once again added to the new genre he's created in Goddess of the Arawaks by splicing some wonderful explicit sex scenes into the original version of Gwen and Gwenette, the book about the two girls who grew up as sisters and came to share everything.

It wasn't hard for them to do what they did for they wanted to have a great big family as they came to call it after the proposal was sealed…

Sophocles: Ajax (Duckworth Companions to Greek & Roman Tragedy)

Sophocles’ Ajax is one of the most disturbing and powerful surviving ancient tragedies. But it is also difficult to understand and interpret. What are we to make of its protagonist’s extremism? Does Ajax deserve the isolation and divine punishment he experiences? Why is his state of mind so difficult to determine? Dr Hesk offers answers to these and many other questions by drawing together the very latest critical work on the play and introducing the reader to key frames for its interpretation, including Sophoclean heroism, language and form; Homeric intertextuality and Athens’ ‘masculinist’ culture, and the twentieth-century reception of Ajax…
